We are thankful for the ongoing support of our friends in the
Council's Plant-A-Lot program, who took us under their wing in
1979. The basic garden design dates from the landscaping work
they helped us with in 1983. They were also instrumental in the
2004 renovation of the entrance steps, the patio and the arbor.
And they're always there to help with any heavy lifting and with
donations of plants and with advice and ...

For over 100 years, The Horticultural Society of New York has been
serving New York City through its library and educational and
community outreach programs. They have programs of interest to
all types of garden and plant enthusiasts, with neighborhood
beautification projects, and with community outreach benefiting
some of New York's most disadvantaged neighborhoods.
To help with funding of HSNY programs, the Creative Little Garden
offers half-price membership to HSNY members.
The Community Gardens Coalition is a non-profit organization
incorporated in 1998, which advocates for community gardens
preservation in New York City. Join the NYC-GardensCoalition@yahoogroups.com
mailing list if you are interested in garden coalition work.
NOSC has always been a big supporter of community gardens
throughout the city. Especially important was the insurance
coverage they were able to acquire for all of us. Although
GreenThumb no longer requires the Creative Little Garden to carry
our own insurance policy, we are forever grateful to NOSC.
The NOSC website has an excellent history of
the community gardens and how they came to thrive. It covers
the contemporary community gardening movement beginning in the
1970's, and ends with the 1999 crisis during "Giuliani Time"
(although NOSC is too polite to use the term).
Last but not least, the Creative Little Garden is a community
managed park that operates under an agreement with GreenThumb, the
program of the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation that
administers community gardens on City-owned land. GreenThumb
provides many services that help support the garden.
